FAQs : Fitting
Q1: I have a high handicap. Does it really make a difference what flex or frequency shaft I use?
A1: Absolutely. Regardless of skill level, proper shaft fit is critical! The shaft is the engine that drives each shot by transferring energy from player to ball. Fitting shaft flex to match your swing tempo and speed (neither too stiff nor too flexible) keeps you from changing your swing to control your equipment. High handicap players have a greater opportunity for improvement. Consistent equipment allows them to concentrate on improving their swing without thinking about how to manipulate their clubs.
Q2: How do I know what frequency I need?
A2: The best way to determine which frequency would match your swing is by sampling various frequencies. You may do this at any of the Club Fitting Systems at golf courses in your area. Or visit a Certified Rifle Center or independent professional club maker listed in your local directory. For a general recommendation, link to the Player Fitting Guide on this site.
Q3: Which is better, a stiff shaft or a flexible shaft?
A3: The best shaft is one that matches your natural swing tempo and speed. See our Player Fitting Guide for a general recommendation. For an accurate evaluation, visit a Club Fitting System location, Certified Rifle Center or local professional club maker.
Q4: I hit my short irons fairly well, but have difficulty getting the long irons in the air. Could this be the shaft?
A4: This problem, common to golfers of all handicaps, is the very reason we created Rifle Flighted™ and Project X Flighted. The result of a development program with leading PGA Tour players, our proprietary Flex Distribution Technology™ provides different flex points within the club set to manipulate ball flight. Long irons are easier to launch with higher ball flight and greater distance; short irons have a lower trajectory for greater accuracy and control; mid-irons will offer a medium trajectory.
